The Gaia-X Spain Association promotes the data economy and is also the national hub of Gaia-X Europe. We create connections between organisations to transform data and its use into a strategic asset, providing a secure, transparent and sovereign collaborative ecosystem that drives innovation and improves efficiency.

At Gaia-X Spain, we turn the vision of digital sovereignty into concrete actions
1. Standards development
We contribute to defining the technical and organisational foundations that enable an interoperable, secure and sovereign data architecture.
2. Promotion of open-source software
We promote the implementation of Gaia-X specifications using open-source code and support their adoption by the technology community.
3. Promotion of the data economy
We drive ecosystems that facilitate the secure and responsible exchange of data, generating innovation and competitiveness for companies and public administrations.
4. Dissemination and training
We organise conferences, congresses, webinars and workshops that help build the ecosystem and foster knowledge about data spaces.

We support organisations and companies in creating their data spaces, providing technological and regulatory guidance.

We promote the ideation of new use cases and the development of projects across different sectors that demonstrate practical value.

who is who and our relationship
Who is Gaia-X AISBL?
The international Gaia-X project is a non-profit public-private initiative involving companies, technology centres, universities and other institutions from countries around the world. Its purpose is to develop the architecture, documentation and software needed to create a trusted infrastructure for building data spaces that contribute to the development of the data economy, integrating European values of security and privacy protection.
Who is Gaia-X Spain?
The Gaia-X Spain Association was created in 2022 to coordinate the entire programme in Spain. The Government of Spain launched the hub’s promoter group, made up of public entities — universities, public administrations and research centres — and private entities — large companies, SMEs and startups — with the aim of drafting the statutes and establishing the association, which was finally created in March 2022 and has since grown in number of participants.
Our Governance Model
Gaia-X Spain’s governance is based on transparency, participation and shared decision-making.
We work with open governing bodies, defined processes and clear criteria to ensure that every decision respects European principles: interoperability, security, technological neutrality, ethics and trust.
The Members’ Assembly, the Board of Directors and the Working Groups coordinate their actions to ensure that the strategic direction, day-to-day operations and results are aligned and consistent with Gaia-X Spain’s mission.
